Former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar was all praise for RCB's capped pacer Mohammed Siraj for his man-of-the-match winning performance against Gujarat Titans.

Mohammed Siraj, who is an integral part of the Indian team across all formats, has been unable to showcase his prowess in the 2024 IPL season. Until last night, the right-arm seamer was struggling to find form and become the thick of things for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. But yesterday against the Gujarat Titans in front of home supporters, Siraj delivered an excellent performance.

Sunil Gavaskar salutes Mohammed Siraj's attitude

While speaking to Star Sports after the RCB registered a 4-wicket win over Gujarat, Sunil Gavaskar had nothing but words of praise for Mohammed Siraj. Gavaskar started by reminding everyone about the kind of bowler that Siraj is and also highlighted his track record of the last 3-4 years.

Sunny G highlighted the spell he bowled during India's famous Test match victory against Australia in 2021 at the iconic Gabba stadium. In that venue, the Aussies were undefeated for more than 2 decades or so but Mohammed Siraj kept India's chances alive with the ball while Rishabh Pant finished off the Test with an incredible innings.

Gavaskar then shed light on the way Mohammed Siraj would get rid of a set batter like Steve Smith who was playing at 55 in the 3rd innings. That the never-say-die attitude and the immense self-belief of Siraj is the Hyderabad-born bowler's biggest strength.

"And look how spectacularly he bowled in that Gabba Test match, getting somebody like a Steve Smith out when he was batting on 55. Dismissing Smith when he has come in to bat is one thing and to get him out when he was set is another. This is the strength of Siraj, the self-belief and never-say-die attitude." - Sunil Gavaskar told Star Sports.

Mohammed Siraj's performance last night at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium was the first time in IPL 2024 that the seamer maintained an economy rate of less than 10. Siraj gave away just 29 runs from his quota of 4 overs and was also responsible for initiating RCB's attack with the ball by removing GT openers Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill cheaply.

His performance with the ball was complimented by other RCB bowlers - Yash Dayal, Cameron Green, and Vyshak Vijay Kumar. The only bowler that went quite too expensive was leg-spinner Karn Sharam who went for over 10 runs an over.

Siraj reveals why he experienced the slump in his form

While speaking to Anjum Chopra after the match, Mohammed Siraj revealed the real reason why he was experiencing such a slump in his form. Anjum Chopra had asked him how difficult was it for him to get back in the zone and Siraj had a logical response.

The right-arm pacer stated that it was tough for him to transition from red-ball cricket to white-ball cricket so quickly. Siraj stated that his lack of white-ball games since the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 final is a key reason why he was not able to enter IPL 2024 in the best of forms.

Since the World Cup, Mohammed Siraj has played Test matches against South Africa and England but his arrival of form last night is not only good news for RCB but also for team India.
