Former India cricketer Ajay Jadeja has given an uncanny opinion about the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) chances of making it to the IPL 2024 playoffs

Ajay Jadeja feels that RCB's situation is like they have been discharged from the ventilator but they still require attention as they are currently in ICU. Jadeja's remarks came after the Faf du Plessis-led side defeated the Gujarat Titans by 4 wickets in the reverse fixture which took place last night at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium.

Ajay Jadeja credits RCB bowlers for their win over GT

While speaking to Jio Cinema after the match between RCB and GT, Ajay Jadeja spoke highly of the RCB bowling attack which did the initial job very well. Led by Mohammed Siraj, the Bengaluru bowlers probably had their best performance of the IPL 2024 season against a tough opposition like Gujarat.

While Siraj registered his best figures of the Indian Premier League 2024 season after so many matches, Yash Dayal also produced an impressive performance. Siraj scalped 2 very important wickets of Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill which eventually paved the way for other RCB bowlers to carry on the momentum.

With Siraj conceding less than 8 runs from his 4 overs, Yash Dayal had an even better economy rate. The left-arm seamer scalped middle-order's danger men Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan for scores of 35 and 18. Dayal also conceded a minimal amount of runs (21) as he had an economy rate of just 5.25 from all 24 balls.

Elsewhere, Cameron Green, too, had a positive performance, as he got the wicket of the dangerous Sai Sudharsan for 6 runs with his economy rate at 7 an over. Vyshak Vijaykumar conceded 23 runs from his 3.3 overs and registered the wickets of Vijay Shankar and Manav Suthar.

Leg-spinner Karn Sharma had a tough evening as he leaked away 42 runs from 3 overs but he did take the wicket of David Miller for 30 off 20. Their bowling was extremely good and the department is largely responsible for RCB's victory by 4 wickets in the 2nd innings. That intrigued Ajay Jadeja to say:

"The chinks in the armor are visible, what happened at the end. But the chance is there. They're off the ventilator but they're still in the ICU. We are excited about today's match after seeing Virat and Faf bat. But the real work that was done, was by the bowlers, an aspect RCB has historically struggled at."

Ajay Jadeja hails the team mentality

Ajay Jadeja then hailed the Royal Challengers for their exceptionally tough mindset that helped them win the match. Jadeja claimed that RCB knew that they would have to put up a solid performance because of the situation they are in and admitted that Bengaluru was on the right side of the road.

"More than momentum, it's about the mentality of the team where you know if you're in a bad situation, someone will take you out of it... Today, it seemed like RCB picked the right road while Gujarat was on the other side," Ajay Jadeja concluded.
