Pakistan pacer Ihsanullah has reportedly been mistreated by the Pakistan Cricket Board's medical team as they could not identify that the bowler had an elbow fracture from the scans they undertook. It was just an elbow fracture which the PCB decoded as a full-fledged injury which only aggravated the pain and resulted in making the injury much more serious than it actually was. This particular news comes as a shocker and depicts how poor the management conditions are in the country's cricket system.

That surgery that Ihsanullah went through should have been a routine one but instead, the bowler was put through a series of rehabilitation among other recovery things. This report was confirmed by ESPNcricinfo and it was also said that the right-arm pacer's fast bowling ability could have diminished due to the mismanagement of PCB's medical staff. Ever since that surgery and injury, Ihsanullah hasn't played a single game of competitive cricket be it at the franchise level or at the international level.

Having missed last year's ICC Cricket World Cup in India and Pakistan's important tours of Australia and New Zealand, Ihsanullah was anyways out of the 9th edition of PSL and it appears that he won't, most probably, make it to the flight for USA and West Indies. The upcoming ICC T20 World Cup starting in June holds a lot of significance for the Men in Green as the PCB, very recently, sacked Shaheen Afridi from T20I captaincy to re-appoint Babar Azam as the white-ball captain.

PCB's medic staff Dr. Saleem says Ihsanullah was not mismanaged while the bowler's PSL 9 team owner blames the apex board

Opinions have been divided on this matter related to Ihsanullah. Dr. Saleem, who is serving as the head of PCB's medical staff on his second stint, claimed that there was no mismanagement with the player and that there was just a short delay, nothing more than that. "There was no mishandling in this case. I'll admit there was a delay (in the initial diagnosis), but no mishandling," Dr. Saleem told ESPNcricinfo.

Ihsanullah's Multan Sultans team owner in PSL - Ali Tareen on the other hand, claimed that it was a total mismanagement by the PCB. He explained that PCB's medical staff is such that they could not even figure out that there was a fracture on his elbow and instead of just treating that, they went about straightening his elbow.

Dr. Saleem provides further clarification

Dr. Saleem provided further clarification that during the time these tests took place on Ihsanullah, his team was not a part of that process. Saleem confirmed that PCB's previous medical team had made a blunder and that he suspected that there is much more than just workload syndrome. After asking for another round of scans, Dr. Saleem and his team found out that Ihsanullah only had a fracture.

"I said I wanted to get fresh tests conducted because I suspected it was more than just workload syndrome. It was diagnosed as such by the doctor who was previously here at the PCB, and not my team. A lab that gave us an MRI scan gave us an incorrect prognosis. I ordered the same scan again, and we picked the fracture up," Dr. Saleem concluded.
