PCB softens stance on Fakhar Zaman, comeback on the cards for star batter

Pakistan National Cricket Team batter Fakhar Zaman has been under the radar of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The opening batter, however, only has himself to blame and there is no clarity if he will make a comeback to the team or not.

Fakhar Zaman found himself in the middle of the controversy after he came up with the social media post after Babar Azam was dropped from the last two Tests against England National Cricket Team. The batter played the first game and then missed the last two games.

As Babar Azam, who was going through a poor run of form in Tests, was dropped from the Fakhar came up with a message for the Pakistan Cricket Board, urging them to value their key players. He came out in favor of the batter, saying that dropping premier plays sends the wrong message.

However, this wasn't taken positively by the Pakistan Cricket Board. The governing body issued a show-cause notice to Fakhar for his tweet regarding Babar Azam and asked him to 'explain his position' to the top officials of the governing body.

Not only this, Fakhar was also terminated from the PCB's annual contract and was even dropped from the Pakistan team for the upcoming white-ball tour to Australia and Zimbabwe. Chairman Mohsin Naqvi also mentioned that such things are not tolerable and batter has been dropped due to the fitness and his tweet.

However, now the Pakistan Cricket Board has decided to go easy on Fakhar. The reports in Cricket Pakistan suggested that the governing body has shown flexibility in the matter. This came after the opening batter presented his position clearly in response to the PCB’s show-cause notice.

The reports claimed that the Pakistan Cricket Board wants a logical solution to the matter, and the positive development related to Zaman's case is expected in the coming days. There are high chances that the issue will get resolved and the batter will be given a leeway.

Mohammad Rizwan has come out in favor of Fakhar Zaman

The reports also claimed that the newly appointed Pakistan National Cricket Team white-ball skipper Mohammad Rizwan also has come out in favor of Fakhar. The keeper-batter wants the opening batter to return to the team, especially with the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which will take place in Pakistan, around the corner.

It is also learned that with Mohammad Rizwan coming out in support of Fakhar, the Pakistan Cricket Board may be considering a pathway for a comeback, marking a positive shift in the player's standing with the board.

It remains to be seen if Fakhar Zaman will be back in the team for the upcoming white-ball tours to Australia and Zimbabwe. He has been one of the best batters going for the team in white-ball and PCB wouldn't want to keep him on the sidelines for long.
