Iftikhar Ahmed, Pakistan’s hard-hitting batsman, has spoken out in favour of their captain, Babar Azam, amid criticism of his leadership abilities.

Under Babar’s captaincy, Pakistan failed to win a single Test at home in 2022 and recently lost an ODI series at home to New Zealand.

Iftikhar supported Babar on a local news show, claiming that opposing him is equivalent to committing a sin.

There Is No Other Player Like Babar Azam In The World: Iftikhar Ahmed

“Everyone knows that there is no other player like Babar in the world,” Iftikhar said.

“People criticising Babar should first see whether they are at a level, where they can comment on him. First, reach his level and become a cricketer like him, and then criticise Babar,” he added.

Iftikhar is not the only one who believes in Babar Azam. Shadab Khan had similar sentiments regarding Babar earlier this week, saying that supporters should recognise the importance of Pakistan’s captain and refrain from criticising him needlessly.

“I think we are doing injustice with such a diamond. Pakistan has been blessed with such a big diamond. He [Babar] is even a bigger diamond than Kohinoor,” Shadab said.

“As a nation, we are not valuing Babar for what he is worth and are pressurising him. At the end of the day, he is also human. We should respect him the way the world respects him,” he added.

When the team is underperforming, it is typical for the captain to face criticism, and Babar Azam is no different. It is wonderful, though, to see his fellow players demonstrate their backing of him and acknowledge his ability and worth.

Babar Azam is one of the best batters in the world today, and he has shown the ability to be an excellent leader as well. Fans and sceptics alike must allow him the time and space he needs to grow into the job and lead Pakistan to more success in the future.
