Former cricketers Andy Flower and Tom Moody picked their favorites to win the upcoming semi-final match between India and England in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. Andy Flower and Tom Moody shared contrasting views on the second finalist of the ICC tournament in the West Indies and the USA.

The Rohit Sharma-led team is scheduled to face the Jos Buttler-led side in the second semi-final encounter at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on Thursday, June 27. Team India registered three victories in the Super Eight round in Group 1, while the England team finished in second place in their group.

Jasprit Bumrah, The Best White Ball Bowler In The Game - Andy Flower

Speaking to ESPNCricinfo, Andy Flower predicted that India are the favorites in the upcoming match. He highlighted Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah as threats for England, adding that the conditions in Guyana will favor India. Flower described Bumrah as the best white-ball bowler in the world.

"Well, I spoke about these two threats that twin threat of Kuldeep wrist spin and Bumrah, the best white ball bowler in the game. I think in those conditions in Guyana, India will come through," Andy Flower said.

Perfectly Balanced For The Conditions In Guyana

During the same conversation, Tom Moody stated that he would prefer to support England for variety. Moody agreed with Andy Flower's opinion that India is a well-balanced team suited for the conditions in Guyana. He praised the selectors for their strategic squad selections for this World Cup.

"I'd like to say England, just so we've got a point of difference on the show, but I tend to agree that I think India have got a team that is perfectly balanced for the conditions in Guyana. And you've got to give credit to the selectors for the balance of the side that they have selected for this World Cup because they've got it absolutely spot on," Tom Moody said.

India and England have faced each other four times in the T20 World Cups, with both teams securing two victories each. India registered wins in 2007 and 2012, while England won in 2009 and 2022. The England cricket team defeated the India cricket team by 10 wickets in the T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final.

There are concerns about potential rain interruptions during the highly anticipated match between India and England. There is no reserve day for the upcoming match due to the only one-day gap between the match and the final. However, the ICC has allotted an additional 250 minutes in case of rain delays.

If the match gets washed out, India will advance to the final because they finished on top of Group 1 in the Super 8 stage. England, who finished second in Group 2, would be eliminated. The winner of the semifinal match will take on South Africa in the final match in Barbados on Saturday, June 29.
