Australia captain Pat Cummins will be leading his team in the highly anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 which will begin from November this year. Recently, Cummins was asked about his preference for the pitches for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2025.

The Test series will comprise of five Tests between Australia and India. It will be a huge series as it is likely to decide the finalists of the World Test Championship (WTC) final, which will be played next year in June.

Both the teams are strong and have a variety of world-class cricketers. While Australia are a strong home side, India haven't lost a Test series to Australia in a decade. Their formidable record in the format will make this series full of high intensity.

Pat Cummins gives a hilarious reply about his pitch preference

During an interaction with The Grade Cricketer, Pat Cummins was asked about his preference for pitches for the Test series. Cummins was at his hilarious best and pointed out the bushy plants behind the anchor.

“I wish, if I had my way, the pitches would be looking like those bushes behind you (laughs),” said Cummins.

The Australia fast bowler clearly wants a pitch that has grass on it and assists the quick. Fast bowling has always been Australia's strength and it's the same case here as well.

Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and skipper Pat Cummins are the three frontline fast bowlers of this team. All three of them are different and will pose a significant amount of challenge to the Indian batters.

"I don't have any say" - Pat Cummins on Australia's pitch preparation

Cummins further revealed that he doesn't have any say on the pitches and has no idea about it. He further claimed that the pitches were flat earlier but have settled down now and are helpful for everyone.

“Unfortunately, I don't have any say so we will wait and see. Last couple of seasons, the wickets have been awesome. It feels like if someone has scored a hundred, they have batted the house down. Taken them a few sessions whereas my first couple of years, some of those wickets were so flat,” he added.

Pat Cummins hopes for balanced pitches

The 31-year-old fast bowler also hoped for a balance between bat and ball. He remembered a Test match during Australia's previous tour of India which they were close to win but could not get the result in their favor.

“I just hope there is a bit of balance between bat and ball. I think some of those Indian spinning wickets as well, I think that last tour, Delhi we should have won, it just get the teams close to each other if you get the wickets like that, but you don't listen to our players complaining about those types of wickets,” said Cummins.

The five-match Test series between Australia and India will be played across five different venues across Australia. The five Tests will be hosted by Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney. The second Test in Adelaide will be the day-night Test.
