In a heartwarming gesture, Puma Cricket, on Sunday, announced that it will be sponsoring Zimbabwe all-rounder Ryan Burl’s kits.

The move comes after Ryan Burl had taken to micro-blogging site Twitter on Saturday where he once again brought to the fore, the financial plight that cricketers in smaller countries face on a day-to-day basis.

Posting a picture of his shoes and a glue, Burl wrote if there is any chance that someone can sponsor him while revealing how he has to glue his shoes after every series he plays in order to keep them in shape.

“Any chance we can get a sponsor so we don’t have to glue our shoes back after every series ? @newbalance @NewBalance_SA @NBCricket @ICAssociation ” wrote Ryan Burl.

Burl’s emotional post went viral on social media and in less than 24 hours, the Twitter handle of Puma Cricket announced that it will be sponsoring the Zimbabwean cricketer’s kits from now on.

“Time to put the glue away, I got you covered @ryanburl3 ??

Following the gesture by Puma Cricket, Burl announced the same on his Twitter account where he thanked his fans, whose relentless support over the last 24 hours, according to him, led to him getting the deal.

“I am so proud to announce that I’ll be joining the @pumacricket team. This is all due to the help and support from the fans over the last 24 hours. I couldn’t be more grateful to you all. Thanks so much @PUMA” wrote Burl.

Ryan Burl has thus far featured in 3 Tests, 18 ODIs, and 25 T20Is for Zimbabwe since making his debut in 2018.
