"Raised up his bar": Shreyas Iyer heappraise Prabhsimran Singh's innings after thumping win against MI

Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer has led by example, as he has always dominated with the bat and has amassed the most runs for the Punjab Kings in this season. Alongside the match-winning knock, he reflected on the confidence and optimism in the team environment.

The Punjab Kings climb to the top of the IPL 2026 points table after their fourth win in the season. The PBKS side has been undefeated so far this season against five different oppositions and has secured 9 points, only because the match against the Knight Riders ended in a draw due to massive rainfall.

Punjab Kings' all-round excellence sees them through to another victory

Punjab Kings bounced back into the contest after their promising start with Arshdeep Singh making a double strike in the third over of the game, where he removed Ryan Rickelton and Suryakumar Yadav on consecutive deliveries.

Following that came a mammoth partnership between Quinton de Kock and Naman Dhir, with the match at one point advancing to a massive target. However, the Punjab Kings did a wonderful job, helping them chase a low score.

QDK's century came at a juncture when the lower-order batters struggled to score runs at a quick rate and could only manage 195 runs in their 20 overs. They seemed to fall behind by a margin of around 20-25 runs.

The Punjab Kings batters, Prabhsimran Singh and skipper Shreyas Iyer, in a massive 139-run partnership between them, helped the team over the line. Prabhsimran amassed an unbeaten 80 while Shreyas Iyer scored 66 runs. Prabhsimran is at no. 5, followed by skipper Iyer at no. 6 on the orange cap list, with 211 and 203 runs, respectively. Shreyas Iyer has scored three consecutive half-centuries in IPL 2026.

New records set by PBKS in the clash against the Mumbai Indians

The Punjab Kings have been dominating the IPL 2026 season and are now the most successful franchise alongside the Chennai Super Kings against the Mumbai Indians. Extending their winning streak against the Mumbai Indians, they now have 18 wins against the franchise.

They have also won the most matches at the Wankhede Stadium, winning 6 out of their 11 games. This was also the second-highest total to be chased against the Mumbai Indians in the IPL. Also, this was the 9th registered win for the Punjab Kings while chasing a target; they have a win percentage of 81.8%.

This is the second time that the Punjab Kings have started with a five-match winning streak for the first time since the first time in 2014. Back then, they had reached the finals of the competition.

"Certainly confident and optimistic, the way we have been playing. Also, we have our heads on our shoulders. I am glad that today we came out and got that victory," Shreyas Iyer looked happy with his team's dominant performance.

Iyer praised the stunning batting performance from Prabhsimran Singh, who, according to him, has been gaining some promising form. "He has certainly raised up his bar; even though he was getting runs, he was giving us excellent starts, this year he has been more mature; match by match, he is getting more mature."

"My catch. We have this tendency of pulling things back, even against SRH, the way we bowled. We haven't decided about that as of now. I have been lucky to win the toss, and a lot of positive players are in the team to go out and express themselves."

"I personally feel you need to keep getting better each and every game; that is the recipe we keep following. I have seen the crowd coming in numbers and cheering us," he added further.
