The relations are turning sour between the Rajasthan Royals and the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) after RCB's ad hoc committee convenor, Jaydeep Bihani, questioned the IPL franchise's recent 2-run loss to Lucknow Super Giants in the ongoing IPL 2025.
The Royals suffered a shock loss at their home ground and are now looking set to exit the competition at the league stage. Chasing 181 runs, Rajasthan Royals were on 85 for no loss at one stage and then 156 for 2 after 17 overs.
Rajasthan Cricket Association levels sensational allegations
However, they failed to cross the finishing line in the end and lost the game by two runs. In the final over, the Royals needed 9 runs but could score only 6 runs.
It was the second game in a row that the Royals failed to score 9 runs in the last over of the chase. They also suffered a loss in the Super Over against Delhi Capitals after failing to score 9 in the final over.
In the wake of the dismal defeat, Jaydeep Bihani raised doubts over the Royals' intentions in the game. Even though he did not directly accuse the team of match-fixing, he questioned the defeat.
Not only that, he also accused the RR, Rajasthan Sports Council and the BCCI of collusion to sideline the RCA's ad hoc committee from IPL-related activities.
Rajasthan Royals hit back:
Rajasthan Royals have hit back at Bihani's statement and have also formally complained to the Chief Minister, Sports Minister, and Sports Secretary, calling for strict action against him. A senior Rajasthan Royals official dismissed the allegations and called them "false, baseless, and without any evidence".
"We reject all allegations made by the convener of the ad hoc committee. Such public statements are not only misleading but have caused serious damage to the reputation and credibility of Rajasthan Royals, Royal Multi Sport Private Limited (RMPL), the Rajasthan Sports Council, and the BCCI. They also tarnish the integrity of cricket," stated a release from the franchise.
Royals all but out of IPL 2025
Meanwhile, the Royals are currently at the eighth spot in the points table with just two wins from eight games.
They need to win all of their remaining games to stay in contention for a playoff spot. Even though the Royals are still alive in the tournament, their chances of progressing ahead of the league stage look as good as over.
