Rajat Patidar suffered an injury before the last game of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru against Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2025. The suspension in the tournament brought a blessing in disguise for the RCB skipper and the fans as he got the time to recover.

For the first time after sustaining the injury, Patidar went to the nets and batted for more than 30 minutes but didn’t field or take catches in the practice session. He will be eyeing to make a comeback in the first match of the IPL 2025 after resumption.

Rajat Patidar's injury update

Rajat Patidar started the practice session with some throwdowns before getting the green flag from the RCB camp on his injury.

After RCB tested his batting movement, Patidar went to the nets and with some taping on his right hand, he started batting for over 30 overs and looked solid in the nets despite having an injury.

RCB wants their skipper fit before their clash against Kolkata Knight Riders on May 17. This will be the first match of IPL 2025 after the suspension of the tournament.

Rajat Patidar’s form in IPL 2025

The RCB skipper started the season on a high note as he scored 175 runs in his first five innings, but after that, in his last five innings, his form dipped down. 23 was his high score in his last five innings so far.

Rajat Patidar managed to score 239 runs in 10 innings with a strike rate of 140.58. Patidar scored two half-centuries in the IPL 2025.

Patidar’s form will be crucial for RCB as they are heading to the playoffs, and they will look to finish in the top 2. Currently, RCB are in the second spot in the points table with 16 points. RCB won eight out of 11 matches in the IPL 2025.

Patidar's captaincy is also up to the mark this season, utilizing every player's ability and giving chances to young players, also like Suyash Sharma and Rasikh Salam Dar.

Injury scare in RCB camp

Before the RCB skipper got injured, their no. 3 batter Devdutt Padikkal has also been ruled out of the tournament. Padikkal sustained a hamstring injury, which caused him to miss the remainder of the tournament.

Mayank Agarwal is the replacement for Padikkal for the rest of the matches, and RCB will likely use him as the no. 3 batters in the matches.

Jacob Bethell will also be unavailable for the IPL playoffs because of his international commitments. He is in England's white-ball squad against the West Indies later this month.
