Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja claimed that he suggested a way to get Indian opener, Rohit Sharma‘s wicket ahead of the clash between India and Pakistan at the T20 World Cup.
Shaheen Shah Afridi ripped through the Indian batting line-up in the match, dismissing Rohit and KL Rahul early in the innings. As a result, the Indian team couldn’t get to a substantial total but it wouldn’t have mattered as Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan knocked off the runs to register a 10-wicket victory.
Speaking about the game and Rohit’s dismissal, in particular, Ramiz said that he had a conversation with Babar before the match started.
“Babar Azam was here with the Chief Selector before leaving for the World Cup and I asked him what are your plans against India?” Ramiz questioned.
“I have plans and we employ Cricviz and they do the matchups,” Babar replied. “I understand but India will also be using Cricviz and then they will have a ploy set up against you. So, that becomes nothing for us,” Ramiz added.
Babar was intrigued – Ramiz Raja when he mentioned his plan
Ramiz Raja stated that Babar Azam’s ears stood up when he made a mention of a possible plan of attack against Rohit. Ramiz went on to reveal the plan which was quite specific.
“I can tell you how to get rid of Rohit Sharma right now and Babar was intrigued. I said get Shaheen Afridi bowling at 100mph, get a man at short-leg and a 45. Just bowl that inswinging yorker at 100mph and do not give him a single and keep him on strike. You will get him out,” Ramiz revealed.
The ploy worked quite well as Rohit was struck on his pads plumb in front of the wicket on his very first ball.
