Ramiz Raja To Hold Talks With BCCI Officials Over Multi-Nation Tournament Involving India And Pakistan
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja will have a chat with the BCCI officials during an ICC meeting in order to propose an idea of hosting a 4-nation tournament with India, Pakistan, England, and Australia.
The ICC board meeting is scheduled to be held between April 7 and 10. For the same, Ramiz wants to set forth his plans of having India and Pakistan play in matches other than ICC events.
He has been trying to bring back the bilateral series but that is a distant possibility. Therefore, he has settled on an idea to bring in two other cricketing giants, Australia and England.
The tournament, which will be played in the T20 format, is expected to earn USD 650 million dollars for the four nations and the ICC. He is also hoping the ICC will host the event since 3+ nation tournaments cannot be hosted by boards.
The breakdown of the revenue isn’t clear at the moment but the money will be earned from media and commercial rights. They will be distributed equally among the four participants. As of now, the months of September & October have been identified as good windows.
Ramiz Raja clarifies statement about IPL-PSL
Ramiz had stated that the PSL would be far bigger than the IPL if he brought in an auction model. Expectedly, the statement made waves around the cricketing world but he has come out to elaborate.
“I was misquoted. I know where the economy of India and Pakistan stand. However, PCB has plans to improve PSL. We will bring an auction mode for PSL surely,” Ramiz clarified.
