Ramiz Raza Loves His Chair As PCB Chairman: Mohammad Amir
Mohammad Amir announced his retirement from international cricket in December 2020, alleging unfair and disparate treatment by Pakistan’s administration. The left-arm fast bowler openly criticised the coaching staff, which included Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis. He also stated at the time that he would not play for Pakistan due to their “present attitude.”
At the present, Amir has not ruled out a comeback, stating that he would be happy to play international cricket again if his worries are resolved. His decision was connected to the selection of Ramiz Raja as PCB chairman for a three-year term beginning in September 2021. Raja took over for Ehsan Mani, who stepped down in August of last year.
Pakistan may have experienced a power shift in recent months, but Amir’s comeback to the greatest stage remains a shambles. He questioned Raja’s shift in opinion in the aftermath of Imran Khan’s ouster as Prime Minister of Pakistan following a no-trust vote in Parliament.
My Relationship With Ramiz Raja Goes A Long Way: Mohammad Amir
Amir reacted when asked if the current members of the Pakistan board had contacted him for a comeback.
“Mera aur Ramiz Raja ka bohot puraana pyaar hai jo khatam nahi hoga (Our relationship goes back a long way and it won’t end). It’s understandable why I took back my retirement when he (Raja) took charge,” Amir told SAMAA TV.
“His stance doesn’t change for other people but the rule doesn’t apply to him. If you see his old videos, he had said that he wouldn’t stay for a minute if Imran Khan left.
“His stance about leaving has changed now. Jaan chali jaaye but kursi naa jaye (He won’t give up his position no matter what). Kursi toh sabko pyari hoti hai. Enjoy karne dein unko (Everyone loves being in a powerful position. Let him enjoy),” added the pacer.
Mohammad Amir now plays in the T20 leagues around the world.
