Rashid Khan Appointed As Afghanistan T20I Skipper Ahead Of The T20 World Cup 2021

Rashid Khan has been appointed as Afghanistan’s T20I skipper ahead of the T20 World Cup to be played in the UAE between October and November this year. The most popular Afghanistan cricketer, Rashid is a household name in international cricket and one of the most sought out players in domestic T20 leagues. He has played in all the top T20 leagues across the world and is amongst the highest wicket-takers.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board made this announcement official on Twitter. The selection of Rashid Khan as the T20I skipper of the team was made by ACB Chairman Farhan Yousefzai. Rashid’s appointment was based on his overall experience of playing international cricket for his side.

Apart from Rashid’s selection as captain, Najib Zadran has been appointed as the vice-captain of the side in the T20I format. The Aghan side has several T20 specialists with Rashid Khan and Mohammed Nabi being the top names.
Meanwhile, as per reports in Inside Sport, Afghanistan has been placed in Group B for the T20 World Cup alongside India, England, South Africa, and two other teams who will be chosen from qualifiers. The entire tournament will be played in UAE and Oman.

Speaking of Rashid Khan’s experience in international cricket, he made his international debut back in 2015. Since then he has played five Tests, 74 ODIs, and 51 T20Is for Afghanistan. He has picked up 278 international wickets across formats. He is actively playing in T20 leagues as well across the globe. He has played in leagues like the IPL, BBL, CPL, BPL, PSL, and even in the Abu Dhabi T10 League.
