Rashid Khan Threatens To Pull Out Of BBL After Australia Pull Out Of ODI Series Against Afghanistan

Cricket Australia (CA) refused to play the 3 Match ODI Series against Afghanistan which was slated in March in UAE. CA has taken this decision because there has been no significant improvement in Afghanistan’s Women’s Cricket where Women are not allowed to play cricket and recently the girls are not allowed to study & access parks & gyms.
The 3 ODI matches were a part of the World Super League where Australia has given up 30 points. Australia & Afghanistan have already qualified for the 2023 World Cup. This ODI Series could have been ideal preparation for both sides with less than a year left for World Cup.

Rashid Khan on Cricket Australia (CA)
Rashid Khan who plays for Big Bash League (BBL) for Adelaide Strikers was quite furious on CA where he took to his social media handle. “I am really disappointed to hear that Australia has pulled out of the series to play us in March. I take great pride in representing my country and we have made great progress on the world stage. This decision from CA sets us back in that journey.”

“If playing v Against Afghanistan is so uncomfortable for Australia then I wouldn’t want to make anyone uncomfortable with my presence in BBL. Therefore, I will be strongly considering my participation my future in that competition.” he added.

Concerns for Afghanistan
Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) would be crestfallen as they would have got invaluable experience by playing against a champion Australian side. ICC must intervene in this situation because this is the second time CA has done this as in 2021, they refused to host Afghanistan for a Test match.
We should not forget that Afghanistan has qualified for World Cup 2023 even before the likes of Sri Lanka, West Indies & South Africa which says a lot about their team’s dynamics. Recently Afghanistan upset Sri Lanka in the ODI format where they are proving to be the silent Assasin.
