Indian white-ball vice-captain KL Rahul, who will be leading the Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has showered praise on the young leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi, who has been picked by the Lucknow franchise ahead of the Indian Premier League 2022 mega auction.
The 2022 edition of the IPL is all set to be a 10-team tournament as two new teams – Ahmedabad owned by CVC Capital and Lucknow owned by RPSG Group – are set to join the cash-rich league.
The teams have already revealed their draft picks ahead of the upcoming mega auction and Lucknow Super Giants have picked KL Rahul (Rs 17 crore), Marcus Stoinis (Rs 9.2 crore), and Ravi Bishnoi (Rs 4 crore) in their team.
Meanwhile, Rahul has said that the young leg-spinner Bishnoi has a lot of fight in him.
“He has a lot of fight in him. That’s something that stood out from the first game of the IPL that he played, coming off an under-19 World Cup. IPL is a big stage and it didn’t seem like the occasion got the better of him,” Rahul was quoted as saying by the Times of India.
He can be the next big thing in Indian cricket – KL Rahul on Ravi Bishnoi
Rahul also said that Bishnoi has a lot of self-belief and he has a huge heart. The Lucknow Super Giants captain even labelled Bishnoi as the next big thing in Indian cricket and said it’s the responsibility of the management to help him discover his true potential.
“He wanted to be in a fight. He was bowling against Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer and they are really good players of spin, so I threw him the ball and said, “This is gonna be tough.” He said, “No, it doesn’t matter, I’ll get them out.” That’s the kind of attitude he has. For a little guy he has huge heart,” added the 29-year-old.
“He can be the next big thing in Indian cricket. The responsibility is on us to help him discover his potential so he can get into that national team and become one of the key spinners for Team India,” Rahul said.
