IND vs IRE: 3 Indian Players Who Can Retire From T20Is After The Tournament
3. Ravichandran Ashwin
Ravichandran Ashwin is the first player on this list. The right-arm spinner last played in the shortest format during ICC T20 World Cup 2023. Ashwin managed to showcase a decent show by picking 6 wickets in the tournament.
However, his selection became a talking point after India lost the semi-final to England by 10 wickets. Yuzvendra Chahal, who was the key T20I spinner for India before the tournament, was benched in all the games. The decision invited widespread criticism from fans and experts.
Later, Ashwin was snubbed for the T20I format. After the T20 World Cup 2022 debacle, it is highly unlikely that the right-arm spinner will be back in T20Is. Hence, he can announce his retirement after IND vs IRE T20I series. He has not played any T20I games this year. However, the 36-year-old is a key spinner for Team India in Tests.

2. Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Bhuvneshwar Kumar is another player on this list. The right-arm pacer was a regular member of Team India till November 2022. He last played in a T20I series against New Zealand. However, after the series, he was not picked in any T20I game since the start of this year.
A young squad under skipper Hardik Pandya played against Sri Lanka and New Zealand in a T20I series earlier this year. The team also won both series. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was also not part of the BCCI’s contract this year. The 32-year-old pacer has not played any T20I game this year.
Even in the T20I series against West Indies, Kumar did not get an invitation. With young pacers like Arshdeep Singh, Umran Malik, and Mohammed Siraj tasting immense success in the shortest format, it is highly unlikely that Bhuvi will make a comeback in T20Is in the future.

1. Dinesh Karthik
Dinesh Karthik is almost a confirmed player who does not has a chance to make a comeback in the national team. After 2019, he remained out of the national team for four years. After his impeccable batting show in IPL 2022 last year, he was picked for the national team and in ICC T20 World Cup 2022.
However, he got out for single digits in all three games he played in the tournament. He was also benched in some games. After the tournament, he vanished from the T20I squad. Even in IPL 2023, the wicketkeeper showcased a poor performance. In 13 games, he scored just 140 runs. Being 38 years old, the wicketkeeper-batter is highly unlikely to be picked in T20Is again.
