USA vice-captain Aaron Jones sounded confident ahead of his team’s biggest game of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024 against India at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Wednesday, June 12.

Jones stressed that the USA cricket team would approach their crucial Group A clash with the dominant Indian cricket team like any other game. Notably, Jones has been a standout performer for the USA team in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, showcasing his batting prowess by amassing 130 runs in two matches, including a blistering knock of 94* against Canada.

Ahead of the IND vs USA clash in New York, Jones said that they are focusing on treating the match against India with the same level of preparation and intensity as any other encounter. Despite acknowledging India's formidable reputation, Jones stressed that the USA team has a history of defeating strong opponents and would not be intimidated by their reputation.

Aaron Jones said at the pre-match press conference in New York, “I think we're going to treat it like a normal game. We know India is a good team, but we've beaten good teams before. We don't want to play on names, teams, or anything like that. We've beaten good teams in the past. So definitely going to go hard tomorrow against India.”

Furthermore, Jones revealed that the USA team would come up with strategic planning to counter Team India's strengths in their T20 World Cup 2024 clash on Wednesday. Highlighting the importance of tactical planning, he mentioned that the USA has made hard preparations and discussions, so they will face India with the best possible strategy in the mega clash.

He further noted, “We always plan before every game. We have our team meetings, and we have our plans as a team. The coach has his ideas about how to play against all the different teams. So, it's going to be the same thing against India. We have our team meetings and stuff, and we'll come up with the best possible plan.”

Now, Jones' courageous press conference has been going viral, with many hailing the batter and the confidence of the USA team, including veteran Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who is not part of the team for the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and Caribbean.

Sharing a screenshot of Jones’ press conference on X, Ashwin applauded the competitive spirit of the USA's vice-captain while highlighting his dedication and hunger for success. He emphasized that such determination and commitment to excellence deserve admiration.

Ashwin posted on X: “A sportsman’s hunger to compete and be the best brings out this attitude, and that is something we must admire.👏👏”

Notably, the USA and India have both won their first two games in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 and are sitting in the top two positions in the Group A standings. A winner of the Group A game will make it to the Super 8s.
