Chennai Super Kings legend Ravichandran Ashwin has confirmed that he has registered for one of the overseas leagues already and is eager to feature on the global platform and enjoy his game to the maximum, just like he did during the days he used to play street cricket.

The veteran Indian off-spinner, after having relished a decades-long career in international cricket as well as IPL cricket, announced his retirement from internationals during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy last year and recently took to his official social media account to announce his IPL retirement.

He last featured in the IPL 2025 for CSK after being bought for a huge INR 9.75 crore, but could not make a huge impact for the Men in Yellow.

Ravichandran Ashwin reveals future plans in cricket

In the same post where the cricketer announced his retirement, he expressed his desire to play on the global platform in other franchise cricket leagues since he is no longer bound by the terms of the BCCI. And now in a video shared on his Youtube channel, he said:

"Of course I won't be playing anywhere and everywhere for 10 months. Whatever each team's requirements are and the ones I satisfy, I'll play in those leagues. I've already registered for one of the leagues and so let us see how that pans out."

"Playing around the world outside India is fun as nobody knows who you are. You can enjoy it thoroughly. Bowling without any pressure will almost make the ball land perfectly on the spot and even if it doesn't, it's fine as I will finally enjoy playing with joy."

"I want to play on the global stage the way I played street cricket. This was always on my mind and I finally want to do it moving forward," Ravichandran Ashwin concluded.

"Playing cricket and touching lives," Ashwin sets Cricketing goals post IPL retirement

After drawing curtains on an illustrious career, Ashwin said he would now be exploring opportunities that provide him joy and contentment.

"My thing is I want to live my life on my terms for my happiness. As long as I don't hurt anyone and maybe help a few, it gives as much happiness as the achievements on the cricketing field."

"Playing cricket and touching lives, while balancing the family's needs, is the ultimate challenge of life at this stage. Hence, within these parameters, I am trying to see what time I get to expand my joy," said Ashwin.

Ravichandran Ashwin was one of India's most legendary spinners

In a decades-long career that spanned over 15 years, Ravichandran Ashwin has played innumerable Tests for India and has had an impactful ODI career as well. He finished international cricket with 765 wickets and 4000+ international runs for India.

He became the first Indian to enter the elite list of 7 great cricketers in the world with the same record. Shaun Pollock, Daniel Vettori, Wasim Akram, Chaminda Vaas, Stuart Broad, and Shane Warne are among others in the list.

Ashwin won the ICC World Cup and the ICC Champions Trophy with India back in 2011 and 2013, where he bowled the iconic last over to seal India's win. Ravichandran Ashwin also won the IPL twice with the Chennai Super Kings in 2010 and 2011.
