Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been the talk of the town ever since he made a 35-ball century as a 14-year-old in IPL 2025.

In IPL 2026, his aggressive ways have taken him and his game to the next level. Right now, Sooryavanshi is the fourth-highest run-scorer in this tournament and held the Orange Cap briefly as well.

In a recent interview with RevSportz, former India and CSK offspinner Ravichandran Ashwin said that the BCCI should try to give the 15-year-old southpaw an opportunity on the upcoming tours of Ireland and Zimbabwe.

So far, Sooryavanshi has scored 254 runs in 7 matches at an astonishing strike rate of 220.86. He has also made two fifties, both of which came in just 15 balls.

Sooryavanshi has 26 fours and 20 sixes in the IPL this year from just 115 balls. This means that he has hit a boundary once every 2.5 balls on average. As much as 88.19% of his total runs have come in boundaries.

Ashwin has said that he thinks Sooryavanshi will play for India one day, "I have no doubt that Vaibhav will play for India. I think he will certainly do so. The key is to take him step by step. If you do that, he has a really long career ahead," he said.

"Not a bad idea to try him out in countries like Ireland and Zimbabwe" - Ravichandran Ashwin

When asked whether or not he thought Vaibhav Sooryavanshi could be successful in the international arena, Ashwin said that the 15-year-old can do well if given the right opportunity.

"This is Vaibhav’s second proper season in the IPL. Last year, he did reasonably well, and this year he has started well. I really like that kid and have my fingers crossed for him to do well." Ashwin said.

He also went on to say that exposure to international cricket will do Vaibhav Sooryavanshi good. "It’s not a bad idea to try him out in countries like Ireland and Zimbabwe. I think he will end up being successful. He’ll also get exposed to a lot of new conditions, which is good for him," he continued.

"I want to see him bat for the next 15-20 years" - Ravichandran Ashwin

Ashwin elaborated on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's fearless batting and his exceptional talent. Ashwin agreed that he was playing the ball without caring about the reputation of the bowler in front of him.

"He is a fabulous talent. He is clearly indicating that he’s playing the ball. It doesn’t matter to him who you are – if it’s in his range, it’s going. He’s an exceptional talent. When such talent meets opportunity, amazing things happen," Ashwin explained.

Ashwin also said that an important aspect of improving Sooryavanshi's game was exposure. "For him, the more exposure he gets, the better he is going to become. I want to see him bat for the next 15–20 years," he concluded.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been the most crucial part of the Rajasthan Royals, currently sitting in second place on the points table of IPL 2026.
