Ravindra Jadeja demands Test series against Nepal after R Ashwin’s post: The 2026 T20 World Cup group stages are nearing their end, with only four matches left to be played. The tournament has already got its eight teams for the Super 8 round. However, this tournament has been exciting and breathtaking to watch, as the associate nations have made some upsets in the tournament.
Zimbabwe defeated Australia to qualify for the next round. Nepal won their first game since 2014, against Scotland, ending a drought of 12 years in the T20 World Cup competitions. Nepal has been excellent in the tournament, as in their very first game against England, they nearly chased down the target of 185 runs. They fell short of the run chase by four runs.
Ravindra Jadeja wants Nepal to play Test
They gained praise from many former cricketers for their performances in this edition of the tournament. With the brand of cricket they have played and the development they showcased in this format of the game, challenging the big nations. After their amazing campaign in the T20 World Cup, former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has shared his views on Nepal and their performances.
Yeh ashinfo 3 test match series??🤔

While sharing his views via X (formerly Twitter), Ashwin said, “Nepal have shown enough to get some bilaterals with full member teams. Their players deserve a lot more in terms of exposure and Guidance. Deep Airee has already shown that he is a quick learner.” Replying to his comment, his former India teammate, Ravindra Jadeja, said, “Yeh ashinfo 3 test match series??”
Why can't Nepal play a Test series or matches?
However, despite Ravindra Jadeja’s comment on India playing a Test series against Nepal, the associate nation will not be able to play a Test match as they have not secured a place as a Test-playing nation. To attain a full member nation tag, the team has to perform consistently and be ranked higher in the ICC rankings.
As per the International Cricket Council (ICC), to earn a Test nation certificate, a national team must achieve Full Membership of ICC, which requires high-level performance, robust domestic infrastructure (including multiple international-standard stadiums), financial stability, and established, long-term development programs for men's, women's, and age-group cricket.
Nepal fans turned up in large numbers
However, whenever Nepal played in this World Cup, it did not feel like they were away from home as the fans created a surreal atmosphere in the stadiums. Even if it's a friendly bilateral series, or the matches of the CWC League 2, or the T20 World Cup, the loyalty of Nepali fans has turned out in numbers many times over the last decade.
The cricket of Nepal has been in a developing mode. After the win against the Scotland team, captain Rohit Paudel praised his players and also thanked the fans who turned up in large numbers at the Wankhede Stadium and in Eden Gardens as well.
Paudel feels that his team should play more against Test-playing nations in order to improve their games and learn from the best cricketers across the world. It will show their capabilities and test their abilities more in the shorter format of the game.
