Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) looked like one of the most settled sides despite the release of a few big names heading into the IPL 2024 auction. They had their first XI well in place well before the auction.
As always, RCB stacked up their batting resources but released their boilers. Harshal Patel, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Josh Hazlewood, the three top bowlers from the franchise were released heading into the auction. The likes of Fin Allen, Kedar Jadhav, David Willey, and Wayne Parnell are also released.
Mohammed Siraj was the only capped Indian pacer in the squad retained. Reece Topley missed the last season with an early injury. The franchise will be once again in the hunt to reorganize their bowling attack They need both Indian and overseas bowlers both Indian and overseas.
Their batting lineup looks in order with Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli opening the batting. Rajat Patidat can come in at three followed by Glenn Maxwell at four, Suyash Prabhudessai at five and Dinesh Karthik at six. They lack a specialist all-rounder and good bowling depth. The franchise traded Mayank Dagar from SRH in exchange for Shahbaz Ahamad.

The franchise always had the potential to win the title. However, despite making the playoffs numerous times, RCB are yet to win an IPL title. Over the years, there have been changes in the coaching and the support staff as well.
Andy Flower will be the head coach of the side. Mo Bobat will be the Director of Cricket, Adam Griffith the bowling coach, and Malolan Rangarajan the fielding coach. Shankar Basu, the strength and conditioning coach, and Freddie Wilde the team analyst.
With Faf du Plessis turning almost 40 by the time the IPL ends next year, the management should also try and identify the next leader of the franchise. They should go into the auction with the intent of roping in a player who can take over the leadership from Faf.
