RCB star SNUBS MS Dhoni, picks Adam Gilchrist as best wicketkeeper of all time

RCB wicket-keeper batter Jitesh Sharma played a 'This or That' challenge for picking the best wicket-keeper in the world, and his choice was not the great MS Dhoni. He started with one name and held firmly onto it till the very end.

The IPL 2026 is knocking at the doorstep, and all franchises are likely to summon their players by this week in order to ramp up the team strategies and finalize a playing XI for the first half of the tournament that has been announced until now.

Royal Challengers Bangalore will have wicket-keeper batter Jitesh Sharma, who is also their vice-captain and was seen leading the defending champions on a few occasions when Rajat Patidar was not available to play. He played a huge hand in RCB's maiden IPL triumph.

Jitesh Sharma picks Adam Gilchrist over MS Dhoni as the best Wicket-keeper ever

The 'This or That' challenge has been a common feature in recent times, and RCB wicket-keeper Jitesh Sharma also took up a similar round to pick the best wicket-keeper in the world. However, even before the game started, he seemed to know who to pick.

The round started with the likes of Brendon McCullum and Kumar Sangakkara, where he started by picking the Lankan legend. However, surprisingly, he cited KL Rahul as a better keeper than the legendary Sri Lankan keeper-batter.

He then picked Rishabh Pant and finally got the name he was hunting for. Adam Gilchrist was his choice over the likes of South African legend Mark Boucher, his RCB mentor Dinesh Karthik, former Indian captain MS Dhoni, RCB legend AB de Villiers, and lastly, himself.

The young Indian keeper seemed to be highly inspired by the legendary Australian, who, not always by stats but for those who have witnessed him play, would remain as one of the greatest wicket-keeper batters to have played the game of cricket.

Before Adam Gilchrist, as Jitesh truly pointed out, the world had witnessed either wicket-keepers doing part-time batting or batters doing part-time wicket-keeping; he was the one who made an identity for wicket-keeper batters.

"I think he was the keeper who showed the importance of keeping and the fact that a keeper plays attacking shots. He had turned an era in that direction at that time, which is why I'm very fascinated by him. I am a big fan of his way of batting and keeping, and I feel very happy when I sit alone and see him play," said the wicket-keeper.

Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, or Jitesh Sharma: Wicket-keepers to look out for in IPL 2026

This IPL 2026 might be just the edition for the wicket-keeper batters to fire in. Sanju Samson will be getting a new franchise and a new role in the CSK jersey, and with all the form from the T20 World Cup and the love of the people of Chennai, the batter is expected to fire in.

On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad will have another Indian T20 World Cup hero, Ishan Kishan. They will have their own finishing wicket-keeper batter, Jitesh Sharma, while Rajasthan Royals keeper Dhruv Jurel would look to consolidate a Team India spot with his latest performance.

Among other notable names, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant would also be crucial to their teams' campaign, as they look to make their way into the Indian white-ball setup.
