Veteran wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik had to walk off the field due to an injury on Sunday (May 12) during the game between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Delhi Capitals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
Dinesh Karthik was limping as he made his way out of the ground and was replaced by Anuj Rawat behind the stumps. Royal Challengers Bengaluru will be hoping that it is just a niggle and not a serious injury as Dinesh Karthik has been a very crucial player for them this season.

RCB are still alive in the competition and are in contention to make it to the playoffs. In the ongoing game against Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru scored 187/9 in 20 overs after being asked to bat first. Rajat Patidar starred with the bat for the hosts, scoring 52 off 32 balls with the help of three fours and as many sixes.
Dinesh Karthik, on the other hand, failed to get going with the bat and was out for a two-ball duck. In reply, Delhi Capitals were reeling at 100 for 6 after 12 overs at the time of writing this report. Axar Patel and Rasikh Dar Salam were batting in the middle for the visitors.
Delhi Capitals' chances of winning the game are extremely low as Royal Challengers Bengaluru would be looking to register their fifth win in a row. The ongoing game is also a do-or-die clash for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Dinesh Karthik's dubious record:
Before being injured and walking off the field, Dinesh Karthik also created the dubious record of scoring the most ducks in the history of the IPL. The duck was his 18th in the IPL as he overtook Glenn Maxwell and Rohit Sharma to become the player with the most ducks in the tournament's history.
- Dinesh Karthik - 18
- Glenn Maxwell - 17
- Rohit Sharma - 17
- Piyush Chawla - 15
- Mandeep Singh - 15
- Sunil Narine - 15
Talking about his overall performance this season, Dinesh Karthik has scored 301 runs in 13 games with the help of two half-centuries.
