Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra wants to see Virat Kohli get going and score runs in tonight's match number 52 between Bengaluru and the Gujarat Titans

Aakash Chopra also wants Virat Kohli to break the jinx that most of the Indian players have gotten stuck into after being picked for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 15-man squad. The likes of Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, and Yuzvendra Chahal among others experienced a dip in their form in their team's very next match following the squad announcement.

Aakash Chopra backs Virat Kohli to make it big tonight at the Chinnaswamy

While speaking in his latest YouTube video, Aakash Chopra backed as well as demanded Virat Kohli to score something big tonight at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium. Chopra highlighted that Yashasvi Jaiswal is the only player since the squad announcement who has played very well otherwise all of them haven't scored much in their matches.

Thus, Aakash Chopra thinks Virat Kohli will definitely score runs but not just to break the T20 World Cup jinx. If Kohli gets going and scores a lot of runs, then it will be beneficial for the South-Indian outfit who are currently at the bottom of the points table.

The 38-year-old claimed that for RCB to win tonight and complete the double over Gujarat Titans, then Virat Kohli has no option but to score runs. In their previous meeting, Kohli had smashed 70 off 44 at a 159 strike rate including six 4s and three 6s.

Virat Kohli's presence in the crease was extremely crucial in the match as he had stitched a 166-run match-winning partnership with Will Jacks. While Kohli scored 70, Jacks stole the show with his superlative range hitting, amassing 100* off just 41 balls to rattle the Titans and win the tie with 24 balls left.

Another point that Aakash Chopra raised was that no one will be talking about Virat Kohli's strike rate tonight. The former India opener feels that people will rather look forward to seeing Kohli go for something gigantic.

"I am thinking that Virat Kohli should also score runs. I am expecting runs from Virat Kohli and if Bengaluru have to win, he needs to stay there. You don't know what you will get from Maxi (Glenn Maxwell). No one will talk about the strike rate. They will only talk about the hitting." - Aakash Chopra said via his YT channel.

RCB aiming to finish its season on a high

With RCB's chances to reach the playoffs looking extremely slim, they will still try to end their season on a high note by winning all of their remaining matches. After tonight's clash against Gujarat, RCB are slated to take on the Punjab Kings (away), Delhi Capitals (home) and Chennai Super Kings (home).

If Bengaluru wins their remaining matches, then they can dent Punjab, Delhi, and Chennai's playoff hopes. And if other results fall in their favor, then we can even see RCB reach the playoffs but as said before, their chances are pretty slim.
