RCB vs KKR: Twitter Reacts As RCB Register First Win Over KKR In The IPL 2022 Season
Updated - 31 Mar 2022, 01:45 AM
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) registered two points on Wednesday after defeating Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their second game of the IPL 2022 season.
Having lost their first game in a rough manner against Punjab Kings, Faf du Plessis and co. had to get it right against Kolkata, which was high on confidence after defeating defending champions, CSK, in the opening game of the season.
After opting to bowl first, Bangalore managed to restrict their opponents to 128. Andre Russell top-scored with 25, while most of the top-order batters managed to get starts but failed to convert them.
As for RCB, Wanindu Hasaranga was the pick of the bowlers, taking 4/20 in his four-over spell. Akash Deep also took three wickets but he was on the expensive side, having conceded 45 runs. Harshal Patel and Mohammed Siraj took 2 and 1 wicket each.
In response, RCB was off to a terrible start. They were three wickets down at 17, with both Virat Kohli and du Plessis back in the hut. Umesh Yadav and Tim Southee were making the most of the new ball.
A partnership ensued between David Willey and Sherfane Rutherford. Although they were slow, it was the need of the hour. They ensured the Bangalore franchise didn’t crumble and stayed in the chase.
Shahbaz Ahmed walked in after Willey fell and played a crisp 20-ball 27-run cameo. Eventually, it was the experience of Dinesh Karthik that took RCB over the line and inflict the defeat on KKR.
