Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) is reportedly planning to release one of their retained players from the last season due to his off-field issues ahead of the IPL 2026 mini auction. The BCCI informed all ten IPL franchises that November 15 is the final deadline to submit their player retention list.

Each team must decide which players they want to keep or release ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, which is likely to be held between December 13 and 15 in India. As the RCB and other teams finalize their plans for the IPL 2026, major uncertainty surrounds the future of left-arm pacer Yash Dayal, whose name has recently been dragged into a serious controversy.

Yash Dayal’s future with RCB in doubt amid off-field controversy

The young Uttar Pradesh bowler, who was a key part of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's bowling plans, is now reportedly under investigation following shocking allegations of sexual harassment and exploitation. Since the two cases are still ongoing against Dayal, the defending champions are likely to release the bowler.

He was one of the three retained players last year, but now his future is in the dark with the franchise. Dayal is accused of raping a minor in Jaipur and is facing multiple charges of sexual exploitation. Apart from this case, Yash was accused of sexual exploitation and physical violence under the false promise of marriage by a woman in Ghaziabad.

Currently, Dayal has not gotten a clean chit in either of the cases. Given that, as reported by Revsportz, the RCB team management is deeply concerned about the legal troubles surrounding Dayal and the negative attention it could bring to the brand.

With two separate complaints filed against him, RCB is expected to cut ties with the pacer ahead of the IPL 2026 auction to maintain a clean image and avoid off-field distractions, especially after the Bengaluru stampede.

Liam Livingstone set to be released by RCB, Cameron Green out of reach

Additionally, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru are also set to make bold decisions on their overseas combination. The franchise is likely to release England all-rounder Liam Livingstone after his inconsistent performances with both bat and ball.

On top of that, Australian all-rounder Cameron Green, who was on their radar, is reportedly out of reach due to purse limitations and high retention costs. Several franchises are running after Green, and that is making it tough for the RCB to retain the star all-rounder.

Yash Dayal’s rise with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru

Notably, Dayal’s rise with Bengaluru has been one of the most inspiring stories in the IPL, taking 28 wickets in 29 games for the franchise. After a tough 2023 with the Gujarat Titans, where he was smashed for five sixes in a single over by Rinku Singh, many had written him off.

But Bengaluru believed in his potential and picked him up for ₹5 crore in the 2024 auction.

That faith paid off as Dayal delivered consistent performances throughout the season, becoming one of RCB’s key bowlers, and he was retained by the franchise for the IPL 2025 season.
