Former Indian captain Rahul Dravid is all set to embark on a coaching stint with the senior men’s team in Sri Lanka. Rahul Dravid will serve as the coach of the Indian outfit that has plenty of young players, with the first-choice players preparing for the Test series in England. Rahul Dravid remarked it feels nice to get out of quarantine and finally start training. India and Sri Lanka will lock horns in three T20Is and as many ODIs from the 13th of July.
India’s first-choice players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Shami would be in England prepping for the five-Test series against England. Hence, Shikhar Dhawan will serve as captain, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar would be his deputy. The squad also contains plenty of players receiving their maiden call-ups based on their IPL and domestic performances. Rahul Dravid will replace Ravi Shastri as the coach for this tour since the latter is also in England.

Rahul Dravid revealed that it’s been 17-18 days that they spent in quarantine. Hence, the 164-Test veteran remarked it’s good for the players to get out here and resume their training drills. Dravid further stated they have a nice little area on which they will commence their practice tomorrow.
“It has been nearly 17-18 days that we have been in some sort of quarantine. Really good for the boys to get out and just get moving a little bit. A nice little area in front of the lawn before we practice tomorrow, we have an open space,” Dravid said in a video posted by the BCCI.

Rahul Dravid understands the competition surrounding the places in the T20 World Cup squad. But the 48-year old highlighted that their primary goal is to win both the series in Sri Lanka as they have had discussions around the same. Dravid also hopes that along with victory, players get chances to deliver notable performances.
“There are a lot of people in the squad pushing for places or looking to cement their places in the T20 World Cup squad. But the key goal for everyone in the squad and in the team is to try and win the series, we have had discussions around it. That is the primary objective. We are going out there to win the series, hopefully, people get the opportunity to put in good performances in the course of us trying to win the series and knock the doors of the selectors,” he told ANI.
