The IPL 2025 is all set to resume on Saturday (17th May) with the clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru will be hosting the game between the two teams.
The IPL 2025 was suspended for a week due to the tensions between India and Pakistan. IPL's postponement came after the game between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was called off in between due to the attack in the Pathankot region.
Rain won't bother RCB as they need one point to qualify for the playoffs
However, now with the league all set to return, it will be a treat for fans, but it seems that the rain gods are against them. For the majority of the game between RCB and KKR, rain is predicted, and not only will it be agony for fans, but it will also impact the team's chances for the playoffs.
For Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), rain won't be doing anything. Even if the match gets abandoned due to rain, the Rajat Patidar-led side will be entering the playoffs. The washout means they will get one point, and they will have 17 points then, making them the first team to qualify for the playoffs.
After the game against KKR, RCB will have two more games in IPL 2025. This means that they will have a great opportunity to finish in the top two spots in the points table and play Qualifier 1. Currently, the Rajat Patidar-led side is in the second spot on the table with 8 wins from 11 games so far.
KKR will be on the verge of elimination if their clash against RCB gets washed out
On the other hand, rain in the RCB vs KKR clash will not be good at all for the Ajinkya Rahane-led side. The defending champions are currently placed 6th on the points table with 5 wins and 6 losses. A washout today would mean that they will reach 12 points from 13 games and will have just one match remaining.
Even if they win that match, KKR will go to 14 points, and this might not be enough for them to qualify. Hence, they would be hoping that rain doesn't play a spoilsport and they win the match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru to stay in contention for the playoffs.
Also, if the game between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders gets washed out, it will make things tight for other teams as well. Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, who are on 4th and 5th, respectively, will have a great chance to go into the playoffs. Things will get difficult for Lucknow Super Giants.
The playoffs of the IPL 2025 will start on 29th May
IPL 2025 resumes today, and the remaining 17 games will be played across six venues in Bengaluru, Jaipur, Delhi, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad..
The playoffs of the tournament will start on 29th May with Qualifier 1, followed by Eliminator on 30th May. Second Qualifier will take place on 1st June, and the summit clash is now scheduled to be played on Tuesday (3rd June).
