India National Cricket Team batter Rinku Singh has been called back by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the Duleep Trophy 2024. As per the reports in RevSportz, it is learned that the left-hander will be joining the India B squad for the remainder of the tournament.

When the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the squads for the Duleep Trophy 2024, Rinku Singh’s absence was a massive surprise for many. This is because the left-hander has been one of the exciting players going around in Indian cricket, and him not making it in any of the teams raised many eyeballs.

Rinku Singh, after his snub, was asked about his omission, and replying to this, he was being honest, admitting that he didn't play well in the Ranji Trophy 2023-24, and this is why he wasn't selected in the Duleep Trophy 2024. In three games in Uttar Pradesh, he scored 128 runs at 42.66 with just one fifty.

Rinku Singh has now been called to the India B squad because Indian team members will now be leaving the Duleep Trophy 2024 to prepare for the Test series against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team. The players have been asked to assemble in Chennai on 12th September to prepare for the first game, which begins on 19th September.

The likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan, and Rishabh Pant are likely to be part of the Indian XI for the Bangladesh Tests. Therefore, it will be leaving a vacant spot in the India B team, and hence, Rinku Singh has been called into the team for the remainder of the tournament.

The upcoming second round of the Duleep Trophy 2024, which will begin on 12th September, will be a massive opportunity for Rinku Singh to make an impact and prove with worth with the bat. Overall, the Uttar Pradesh batter has a stellar first-class record, averaging 54.70 from 47 first-class matches.

India B started the Duleep Trophy 2024 on high. They thumped India A by 76 runs. It was a sensational effort by them as after being asked to bat first, they were left reeling at 94/7. After that, Musheer Khan (181) played a stupendous knock and, along with Navdeep Saini (56), took the team to 321 runs.

India B then bundled out India A for 231 runs and then based on knocks by Rishabh Pant (61) and Sarfaraz Ahmed (46), they set a target of 275 runs to chase. With the ball, then, they didn't let the opposition go past 200 runs and won the game by 76 runs to bag the important 6 points.

India A skipper Shubman Gill talked about the loss admitting that Musheer Khan and Navdeep Saini took the game away from them. He stated that had they stitched a 100-run partnership, they could've won the game. Speaking after the game, he explained:

"Musheer and Saini played really well. Seeing that there's not much happening from the wicket, we could've gone to the bouncer option earlier to Saini. Looking back you can point to different things. But out there we went for the option we felt was the best. The intensity with which we bowled in the second innings was commendable. Until about lunch time we were talking that if we get a 100-run partnership we could've got the target," he concluded.
