Young Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has achieved yet another tremendous milestone in his Test career as he has become India’s quickest wicketkeeper to complete 100 dismissals in the longest format of the game.

The 24-year-old wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant completed the 100 Test dismissals milestone in the first Test match of the three-match Test series against Dean Elgar-led South Africa National Cricket Team at the SuperSport Park, Centurion on Tuesday, December 28.

Wicketkeeper Pant grabbed the simple catch of Proteas Test vice-captain Temba Bavuma off Mohammed Shami’s delivery to complete his 100th Test dismissal.

Rishabh Pant achieved 100 Test dismissals in just 26 Test matches which are far fewer Tests than any other Indian wicketkeeper-batter, he surpassed MS Dhoni and Wriddhiman Saha who reached 100 Test dismissals in 36 games.

Fewest matches to 100 Test dismissals as a wicket-keeper for India:

26 – Rishabh Pant

36 – MS Dhoni/Wriddhiman Saha

39 – Kiran More

41 – Nayan Mongia

42 – Syed Kirmani

Overall, MS Dhoni holds the record of most dismissals by an Indian wicketkeeper with 294 dismissals in his bag. Following him on the list are Syed Kirmani (198), Kiran More (130), Nayan Mongia (107), Wriddhiman Saha (104) and Rishabh Pant (100).

Rishabh Pant also holds the record of most catches by a wicketkeeper in a Test match (11) along with RC Russell and AB de Villiers.

Pant who made his Test debut in 2018 against England has so far played 26 Tests and he has scored 1549 runs at an average of 39.71 including three centuries and 7 fifties in his successful Test career and he has become India’s first-choice wicketkeeper across all three formats.
