India wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant achieved a massive record in terms of wicketkeeping in the history of the T20 World Cups. He surpassed Adam Gilchrist and Kumar Sangakkara as the keeper with the most dismissals in a single edition of the T20 World Cup.

Rishabh Pant achieved the feat during the game against Afghanistan in the ongoing T20 World 2024. The Super 8 stage game of the tournament between the teams took place on Thursday (20th June) at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.

Rishabh Pant took three catches in the game against Afghanistan. He removed Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Gulbadin Naib, and Naveen-ul-Haq in the game and with that he completed 10 catches in the ongoing T20 World Cup, surpassing Adam Gilchrist and Kumar Sangakkara's tally of 9 catches.

Rishabh Pant has been sensational as the keeper in the T20 World Cup 2024. The keeper-batter has been one of the main reasons behind the success of India in the tournament. He has shown great fitness behind the stumps and is hardly leaving anything behind the stumps.

The ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 has been Rishabh Pant's third World Cup for India. The keeper-batter made decent contributions in the 2021 edition of the tournament. In 2022, he got just one game to play as Dinesh Karthik was preferred over him and he played only semi-final.

Apart from his keeping, Rishabh Pant has been sensational with the bat for the team in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. The keeper-batter has been asked to bat at No.3 and he has taken the role pretty well. He is India's leading run-getter with 116 runs from four innings, boasting an impressive average of 38.66 and a strike rate of 131.81.

Rishabh Pant started the tournament on a high note as he played an unbeaten 36 knock off 26 balls against Ireland in the first game and then played a knock of 42 runs off 21 deliveries against Pakistan. He also played a brutal cameo of 20 runs against Afghanistan in the last game.

India beat Afghanistan in the Super 8 game of the tournament

India started the T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 stage with a bang. They defeated Afghanistan by 47 runs. It was a sensational outing for them with the bat as they piled up 181 runs. Suryakumar Yadav was the shining light for his side with a 53-run knock. Hardik Pandya (32) and Rishabh Pant also played vital hands.

It was a magnificent outing with the ball for India. They didn't let Afghanistan batters settle at all as they kept picking wickets at regular intervals. They bundled out Afghanistan for 134 runs to win the game by 47 runs at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.

Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers as he gave away just 7 runs and took three wickets. Arshdeep Singh was also amongst the wickets and picked 3 wickets while Kuldeep Yadav bagged two scalps.
