The catch was taken in the first ball of the last over bowled by allrounder Hardik Pandya. With 16 needed off the last over for South Africa, Pandya went for a wide yorker but ended up bowling a wide full toss. David Miller tried to smash the ball over the sightscreen and at one point, it seemed like the ball would cross the boundary line easily.

The TV umpire decided to check if Surya's foot was inside the boundary line when the ball was in his hands.

The catch was finally termed legal and David Miller was dismissed. He was the last recognized batter for South Africa and South Africa's hopes also ended with his wicket. The tailenders tried hard but India sealed the match by 7 runs in the end.

When asked about the feeling of winning a World Cup, Rishabh Pant responded that the moment will remain with him but it is important to focus on the future.

"I am not thinking much about it now because I feel in India, people forget after 10-15 days what you have done. So, it is important for you to forget these things as well. That moment will always be there with me, but now we have to move on and focus on what's next," Rishabh Pant added.
