Rishabh Pant could make his much-awaited return to competitive cricket earlier than expected as he has continued recovering at a remarkable speed. The wicketkeeper-batsman is currently at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for his rehabilitation program.

Rishabh Pant was involved in a scary car accident in December last year and has been sidelined since then. While it was expected that he would take a long time to recover from the accident, the star player has surprised one and all including the doctors with his fast recovery.

According to a report in RevSportz, he has now started facing deliveries clocking over 140 kmph at the NCA. The left-handed batsman, who recently started walking unaided, started taking throwdowns last month. And continuing his impressive recovery, he has started facing fast deliveries in the last couple of weeks,

The report further added that Rishabh Pant is facing no issues whatsoever in facing the faster deliveries and is playing them comfortably. At the same time, he is still very far from regaining his full body movements and the medical staff and trainers are confident that he would achieve it in the next couple of months.

“Rishabh has been making a fine recovery. He has started to take on deliveries with speed excess to 140 kmph. We all are delighted with the way he has been crossing every hurdle in his recovery. He is keeping well. His next target will be to focus on larger and quicker body movements, which we aim to achieve in the next couple of months,” a source at the NCA told RevSportz.

Rishabh Pant likely to return next year:

While Rishabh Pant has been recovering really well, he is unlikely to play any competitive match this year. According to reports, the wicketkeeper-batsman could return to action next year through the five-match Test series against England at home.

In Rishabh Pant’s absence, the Indian team has been depending on the likes of Ishan Kishan, KS Bharat, and KL Rahul for the wicketkeeper’s role. Either Kishan or Rahul is likely to be India’s main wicketkeeper in the upcoming Asia Cup and the World Cup.
