Rishabh Pant is closing in on regaining full fitness from the horrific accident that he suffered last year. The southpaw is working on his fitness at the NCA along with other Indian players like Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, and Shreyas Iyer.
Bumrah is all set to make his international comeback in the T20I series against Ireland. Rahul is also likely to make his comeback in the Asia Cup. Meanwhile, Iyer should be fit for the ICC World Cup at home as per reports.
Reports have said that Pant has started facing deliveries of 140 kmph at the nets as he is getting into his groove, but the date for his return has not yet been revealed. The Indian wicket-keeper batsman last played in the Test series against Bangladesh in 2022. Since then, he has missed the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and the WTC 2023 final at The Oval.
Niroshan Dickwella Wishes For Rishabh Pant’s Speedy Recovery
Ishan Kishan and KS Bharat are the two keepers who have been tried in Pant’s absence in Test matches for India so far. Meanwhile, Niroshan Dickwella, who is a wicketkeeper-batsman himself has said that Pant is the best attacking wicket-keeper batsman.
“As an aggressive player, I like Rishabh Pant. Rishabh is the best attacking wicketkeeper-batter at the moment. I hope he recovers and gets back in the team soon,” Dickwella told Times Of India in a recent interview.
He further shared his admiration for Wriddhiman Saha’s glovework. He lauded his experience and work ethic in Test cricket.
“I really like Wriddhiman Saha. His glovework is really amazing. He has the best hands. He has a lot of experience. I really like his work ethic in Tests,” Dickwell said on Saha.
India have missed Pant’s counter-attacking style of play, especially in Test cricket. Cricket experts too admitted that the absence of Pant in the batting lineup for India certainly gave Australia an advantage in the WTC final.
