India wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant is all set to make a return to the Indian Test team through the Bangladesh series. As per the reports in Sports Tak, it is learned that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will be announcing the squad for the two-match series next month.

India and Bangladesh will be locking horns with each other in the two-match Test series. The games will also be part of the ICC World Test Championship.

This will be the first time that Team India will be playing red-ball cricket since March 2024. Bangladesh would be highly confident, having won the series in Pakistan.

The reports stated that the Indian squad for the Test series Bangladesh will hardly see any major changes. The Board of Control for Cricket in India is unlikely to make surprise inclusions in the team for the two-match Test series.

A source close to the same website stated that performances in the first round of the Duleep Trophy 2024, which will begin on 5th September, won't matter much. BCCI is keen to give longer rope to young players who were part of the Test series against England.

Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal are expected to be the two openers for India in the Test series against Bangladesh. On the other hand, Virat Kohli will be making his return to the team in the Tests. He missed the series against England due to family reasons, as his wife gave birth to a child.

The reports claimed that Sarfaraz Khan would be in the mix as well, while the trio of Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel will most likely be the three spin-bowling all-rounders along with Kuldeep Yadav, who will be the wrist spinner in the team.

Rishabh Pant to make Test return after 634 days

The spotlight will be on Rishabh Pant, who will be making his comeback to the Test team after 634 days. The keeper-batter last played red-ball cricket for India during the series against Bangladesh National Cricket Team in 2022.

After that, he met with a horrible accident and then missed action for more than one year, also missing the World Test Championship Final.

Pant then made a return to cricket through the IPL 2024 and also made his comeback for the Indian team in the T20 World Cup 2024. He played a decent role for the side and then also returned to ODIs in the last game of the three-match series against the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team.

The upcoming Duleep Trophy will mark Rishabh Pant's comeback in the red-ball cricket. He will be extremely important for the team going ahead, especially with the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which will see India playing a five-match Test series against the Australia National Cricket Team.

The reports claimed that Dhurv Jurel would be the second keeper in the team. While Mohammed Siraj and Mukesh Kumar will be the two front-line pacers in the squad. There will be a tussle between Akash Deep and Arshdeep Singh for the final remaining spot.
