Riyan Parag Post Match

When Sunrisers Hyderabad hammered the bowling attacks last year in the IPL, it seemed like a one-season wonder to many people. However, SRH continued their aggressive batting style in IPL 2025 as well, which has left Riyan Parag absolutely shell-shocked.

It was the first match of the season for both Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals. After a season of high scores last year, it was interesting to see SRH's approach this season. It didn't change a single bit as they carried on from where they left off in IPL 2024.

A small clip went viral on social media after the match in which Riyan Parag was seen making a bold claim that SRH won't be able to bat like this again in the upcoming season. However, he was left red-faced after facing the wrath of this mighty batting line-up.

Riyan Parag left shellshocked after SRH thrashed RR

In a podcast with 'BeerBiceps' on YouTube, Riyan Parag had made a bold claim that Sunrisers Hyderabad won't be able to bat in an aggressive way in IPL 2025 like they did last season. However, SRH proved him wrong and continued in the same style.

"(Travis) Head was going berserk and then Abhishek (Sharma) was doing his thing. I don't think it's going to happen next year. That's a bold prediction but then I feel... at least, we figured out to not get hit for those 250-240 high scores," Parag had said.

SRH's batters probably didn't think so and started the new IPL season with a bang. The fact that it was against Rajasthan Royals where Riyan Parag himself was the captain, makes it even worse for him.

Riyan Parag gave this interview a few months after having a successful IPL 2024 season. He had finished the last IPL season as the third-highest run-getter of the tournament, just behind Virat Kohli and Ruturaj Gaikwad.

SRH's record-breaking IPL 2024

Sunrisers Hyderabad relied on their attacking batting approach last year to make it to the final of the season where they lost to Kolkata Knight Riders. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma were the chief architects of their success as they piled on runs with utmost freedom.

Both the batters were in sparkling form and smashed the bowlers all around the park. SRH smashed batting records and even had the highest-ever IPL score to their name when they scored 287-3 against RCB at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

Currently, SRH have four totals among the top five team totals in the history of the IPL which shows their batting might. They will be aiming to break several records again this season.

SRH follow the same script

SRH relied on a similar approach and smashed a score of 286-6 in their first match of IPL 2025. It is the second-highest total in IPL history. Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head played the way they know the best.

The openers smashed 45 runs in just three overs for the first wicket. Despite losing Abhishek, they continued piling on the runs freely. Travis Head smashed 67 off just 31 balls but was dismissed by Tushar Deshpande.

However, Ishan Kishan kept smashing RR bowlers all around the park. He received good support from Nitish Kumar Reddy and Heinrich Klaasen as they played whirlwind cameos. RR captain Riyan Parag had no answers to this approach.

Kishan finished unbeaten on 106 off just 47 balls. In reply, Rajasthan Royals gave a good fight but could score just 242-6. The runners-up of the last season SRH have started this season with a bang and will be a big threat to their opponents in the upcoming matches.
