Rohan Jaitley Retains Post Of DDCA After Elections Win, Siddharth Verma To Take Over As Secretary

Rohan Jaitley is set to retain the post of the president of Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA).

Jaitley triumphed over senior advocate Vikas Singh with a heavy margin of votes to get re-elected as DDCA chief. The counting of votes concluded on Thursday mid-night.

Apart from Jaitley, Siddharth Verma, who is the youngest son of former Delhi CM late Sahib Singh Verma, secured the position of secretary after a thumping win over Vinod Tahara.

Jaitley bagged 1658 votes while Vikas Singh could manage just 662. It was the second time that Singh encountered a humiliating defeat for the president’s post after going down to senior journalist Rajat Sharma in the last election.

Verma, who is a former Railways and Delhi cricketer, won with 1322 votes to Tihara’s 704.

Rakesh Bansal, younger brother of former BCCI vice-president Sneh Bansal, finished a distant third in the election for the secretary’s post, polling in just 248 votes.

Verma, who has also been a DDCA senior selector and BCCI sub-committee member,  called his victory as a great one and extended his support to DDCA president Jaitley.

“It is a great victory for me personally. I would like to extend all my co-operation towards Rohan and work for the betterment of Delhi cricket. I have been a cricketer and working for their cause would be priority,” Verma told news agency PTI.

Pawan Gulati, maternal uncle of Gautam Gambhir, will be the new treasurer of DDCA as it was a walk in the park for the advocate.

Shashi Khanna, wife of former BCCI acting president CK Khanna, retained the role of vice-president of the state association board.
