It's easy to start doubting yourself - Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma, who was struggling with his form in the first matches of IPL 2025, finally returned to his best in the match against the Chennai Super Kings.
In the battle between the arch-rivals, Rohit showcased a batting masterclass and demolished the Chennai Super Kings' bowling attack.
He started his innings while chasing 177 on an aggressive note, but toned it down a little bit as he aimed to play a longer innings and finish the match.
Rohit completed his fifty off 33 balls in the match and finished his innings with a score of 76* runs off 45 balls, with 4 fours and 6 sixes. He was involved in a sensational 114-run partnership with Suryakumar Yadav and helped MI register a 9-wicket win in 15.4 overs.
During the post-match presentation ceremony, Rohit Sharma, who won the Player of the Match award, opened up on being cheered by fans even in the yellow jersey at the Wankhede Stadium. He said:
"(On some fans in yellow jersey cheering for him as well) Those are fans who love cricket, that's what's special about Wankhede, they want to enjoy good cricket and today was a very good game for us."
While talking about his poor form, Rohit said that he wants to have a clear mindset because doubts creep in when one is going through a lean patch. He said:
"After being here for such a long period of time, it's easy to start doubting yourself and start doing different things. For me, it was important to do simple things and have a clear mindset."
It's something we spoke about but 2-3 overs don't make a huge difference - Rohit on coming in as an impact player
Rohit Sharma added that planning his innings is very important for him. He said:
"It is important, that's how we want to play and plan our innings. It was important for me to hold my shape and extend my arms, and when the ball was in my area, I had to do what I have been doing."
Rohit also broke the silence on being used as an impact player by the Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL 2025. He said that he doesn't mind coming in to bat straightaway if his team wants him to. He stated:
"(On coming in as the Impact player in the last 2-3 overs) It's something we spoke about but 2-3 overs doesn't make huge difference but it's not easy when you haven't fielded for 17 overs, that's the thought process but I don't mind that if I my team wants me to come straightaway and bat."
Whenever that name comes up, I don't know how to react - Rohit Sharma
When Harsha Bhogle asked Rohit about hitting a six in the Rohit Sharma stand, which has been recently approved at the Wankhede Stadium, he responded:
"(On hitting the ball to Rohit Sharma stand) Looks far away that stand, I enjoyed being out there, for me it's about staying out there and finishing the game, that's what gives me the most satisfaction.
"We are peaking at the right time, we have won three games in a row. It's a huge honour, I mentioned about it as a young kid, we weren't allowed to come to the stadium at some stage. But, having played all my cricket here, and now to have that stand, it's a big honor. Whenever that name comes up, I don't know how to react."
