Rohit Sharma forces Gautam Gambhir to bow down in Indian dressing room, receives special award

Former India National Cricket Team all-format captain Rohit Sharma won the 'Impact Player of the Series' medal in the Indian dressing room after his heroics in the three-match ODI series against the Australia National Cricket Team.

Rohit Sharma was praised heavily in the dressing room by the head coach Gautam Gambhir for building terrific partnerships with Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli and steering India to a victory.

India and Australia faced off against each other in the third and dead-rubber ODI match at Sydney Cricket Ground. The Aussies had already clinched the series by winning the first two matches, and India were desperate to avoid a whitewash.

India lost the toss and were invited to bowl first, and a tremendous effort from Harshit Rana & Co. saw Australia being bowled out for just 236.

Chasing the target, recently-sacked captain, Rohit Sharma, showcased a batting masterclass while opening the innings with ODI captain, Shubman Gill, and remained unbeaten till the very end.

India had an opening partnership of 69 runs before Shubman Gill was dismissed by Josh Hazlewood. After that, India didn't lose any more wickets as the legendary batters Rohit and Kohli steered India to a 9-wicket win in 38.3 overs.

The duo added 168* runs off 170 balls, with Rohit Sharma smashing 121* runs off 125 balls, with 13 fours and 3 sixes, while Virat Kohli scored 74 runs off 81 balls, with 7 boundaries.

After the conclusion of the series, a ceremony was conducted inside the Indian dressing room where strength and conditioning coach Adrian Le Roux handed the 'Impact Player of the Series' medal to Rohit Sharma.

In the same video shared by BCCI, Gautam Gambhir lavished rich praise on Rohit and Kohli for finishing off the match for India. He said:

"With the bat, I thought the partnership between Shubman and Rohit, it was very, very important, where we were 60 for no loss. And then, the partnership between Rohit and Virat was again outstanding, very clinical as well. And a special mention to Rohit, another hundred, outstanding. The most important thing was that you finished it off, and Virat as well."

During his dressing room speech, Gautam Gambhir made sure to praise the 23-year-old pacer Harshit Rana for his sensational spell of 8.4-0-39-4. Gambhir asserted:

"I thought we did everything; we ticked all the boxes. Especially, to start with, I thought the bowlers were outstanding. The kind of start Australia had, 63 for no loss after 10 overs, and from there to restricting them to 237 was an outstanding effort. And a special mention to Harshit. Harshit, that was an outstanding spell."
