Rohit Sharma gets iCC backing; immediate threat issued for Gautam Gambhir

India’s batting superstars Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Shubman Gill have dominated the updated ICC ODI Batting Rankings despite not playing a 50-over match since their ICC Champions Trophy 2025 triumph in the UAE. India’s two young guns also lead the ICC T20I Batting Rankings.

India’s ODI captain and senior opener Rohit Sharma becomes the world’s number two-ranked batter in the format. In the updated ICC ODI Batting Rankings, Rohit Sharma jumped to the second spot, thanks to Babar Azam’s poor performance in the recent ODI series against the West Indies.

Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli shine in latest ICC ODI Batting Rankings

India’s Test captain Shubman Gill remains the world’s No. 1 batter in the ICC ODI Batting Rankings with 784 rating points. However, Babar Azam could manage 50+ runs in three ODIs against the West Indies and lost his place to Rohit Sharma, who now has 756 rating points.

Now, Rohit Sharma jumped to the second spot, and Babar slipped to the third spot with 751 rating points.

On the other hand, Virat Kohli remains at the No. 4 spot with 736 rating points, and Shreyas Iyer remains at the number eight position with 704 rating points in the latest ICC ODI Batting Rankings. Rohit Sharma-led India won the Champions Trophy 2025.

Australia’s Tim David moved one spot to the 12th spot, South Africa’s David Miller also moved to the 21st position, while England’s Joe Root jumped to the 22nd spot in the latest ODI rankings. There are no changes in the top 10 at the updated ICC ODI Bowling Rankings, with Maheesh Theekshana leading the chart.

Gudakesh Motie climbs in ICC ODI Rankings, Tilak Varma becomes No.2 T20I batter

However, West Indies spinner Gudakesh Motie has climbed five spots to reach 12th place in the latest ICC ODI Bowling Rankings after taking a wicket in each of the first two matches of the ODI series against Pakistan. Additionally, Jayden Seales moved up 24 places to 33rd, while Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed made a three-spot jump to reach the 54th position in the latest rankings.

Afghanistan star Azmatullah Omarzai remained the No. 1 ODI all-rounder, while Gudakesh Motie jumped to 14th place from 15th, and Pakistan's Salman Ali Aghan made a two-spot jump to reach 18th place. Hardik Pandya ranked 21st in the latest rankings with a spot’s gain.

Speaking about the updated ICC T20I Batting Rankings, India’s young batting sensation remained the number one batter with 829 rating points, while his teammate Tilak Varma jumped to the second spot with 804 rating points. Australian batter Tim David has moved up six places to 10th in the latest ICC T20I Batting Rankings.

Dewald Brevis and Cameron Green climb in latest ICC T20I Rankings

Another Australian star, Cameron Green, also climbed six spots to 17th in the latest rankings. Young South African star Dewald Brevis made a huge jump from outside the top 100 to 21st after scoring 125 in the second T20I against Australia. Tristan Stubbs rose 12 places to join 27th in the rankings.

Hardik Pandya remains the No. 1 all-rounder in the ICC T20I All-Rounder Rankings. However, Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza jumped to seventh spot, and West Indies star Romario Shepherd entered the top 10 all-rounders in T20I cricket. Aiden Markram reached the 13th spot with a two-spot gain.

Speaking about the ICC T20I Bowling Rankings, New Zealand’s Jacob Duffy remained the world’s best bowler in the format with 717 rating points. India’s Arshdeep Singh jumped to the 9th spot from the 10th position in the latest rankings.

On the other hand, Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood has moved up three places to 20th in the latest ICC T20I Bowling Rankings. South African speedster Kagiso Rabada made a big jump of 15 spots to share 44th place, while Lungi Ngidi climbed 14 places to 50th in the latest T20I rankings.

Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja remained the number one Test bowler and all-rounder, respectively. The top spot for the batters belongs to Joe Root in the latest Test rankings.
