Rohit Sharma Has Stamped His Authority In Test Cricket; He Is The Best Batsman In The World: Reetinder Singh Sodhi

Former Indian all-rounder Reetinder Singh Sodhi has lauded opening batsman Rohit Sharma for finding his feet in Test cricket. Rohit Sharma stayed in and out of the Test team since his debut in 2013, while also being inconsistent; however, he has been one of the most consistent openers in the longest format in recent times. Reetinder Singh Sodhi believes the right-handed batsman has stamped his authority in Tests.

Rohit Sharma’s transformation as an opener came along in 2019 when South Africa visited India and he opened the innings. He finished with 529 runs in three Tests against the Proteas at 132.25, including three centuries. Currently, the 34-year old has scored 2679 runs in 39 Tests at 46.19, with seven tons.

Reetinder Singh Sodhi believes that a lot would depend upon Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Cheteshwar Pujara in the upcoming series against England. The 40-year old underlined that Rohit is an elegant batsman and the best batsman in the world.

A lot here depends on Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Cheteshwar Pujara – how these three batsmen catch form in the upcoming series. We all know that, in his elegance, Rohit Sharma is the best batsman in the world,” Sodhi said as quoted by Hindustan Times.

Reetinder Singh Sodhi further stated that Rohit certainly took time to find his feet in Test cricket; however, the former all-rounder said he is an established member of the side now. Sodhi highlighted that the right-handed batsman can take the match away from the opposition in a few deliveries.

He was definitely struggling in Test cricket if we talk about sometime back but now he has stamped his authority in Test cricket. He is a special player as an opener, when he plays he can take the match away for the opposition in a matter of moments,” he added.
