Mohammad Azharuddin Part Of The Working Group Formed By The BCCI

The BCCI has chosen former Indian skipper Mohammad Azharuddin to be a part of a working group to have a glance into the issues regarding domestic cricket. Along with Mohammad Azharuddin, the other candidates in the panel are Rohan Jaitley, Avishek Dalmiya, Jaydev Shah, Yudhvir Singh, Devajit Saikia and Santosh Menon. The aforementioned men would be working in co-operation with BCCI’s top bosses in , Sourav Ganguly, Jay Shah, Rajiv Shukla, and Arun Dhumal.

On the 20th of June, it emerged that a ten-member committee would look into the matters related to the compensation package for the season, amongst other aspects. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah wrote to the state units, hoping for continued support as the board plans to hold a full domestic season in 2021-22.

The panel consists of several heads of the state units. Mohammad Azharuddin is in charge of the Hyderabad Cricket Association, Jaydev Shah heads the Saurashtra Cricket Association, while Avishek Dalmiya is chief of the Cricket Association of Bengal. Finally, Santosh Menon hails from the Karnataka State Cricket Association.

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly optimistic of a full-fledged season this year:

Earlier, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly expressed his wish to hold a full-fledged domestic season after a curtailed one due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020-21. The Prince Of Kolkata stated they have to take all the necessary precautions and make all the suitable arrangements to be successful.

“We will create bio-bubbles. We created bubbles for Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy last time. We will have to do the same. Without the bubble, cricket cannot happen even for this season,” Ganguly told Sportstar.
