Rohit Sharma spotted at the airport heading to Sri Lanka?: The India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2026 clash is just a few hours away. The match is scheduled at 7 PM IST at the R Premedasa Stadium, Colombo. The fans, former cricketers, and cricket pundits are gearing up for the blockbuster clash on Sunday evening. Several former Indian cricketers have already reached Sri Lanka for the major clash.

Ahead of the match, former India captain Rohit Sharma and wife Ritika Sajdeh have also been spotted at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport on Sunday morning, as they are departing for an unnamed destination. However, the fans believe that as the India vs Pakistan match is scheduled on Sunday, the team India opener might be heading to Sri Lanka to witness the game.

Rohit Sharma heading to Sri Lanka?

Rohit Sharma has been named as the International Cricket Council (ICC) brand ambassador for the 2026 T20 World Cup. He is the winning captain of India in the previous edition of the competition, which was held in the West Indies & USA. He ended India’s long 11-year ICC trophy drought.

Rohit was previously spotted in India’s opener against the USA at Wankhede Stadium. He was seen walking out with the T20 World Cup trophy and placing it on the podium ahead of the clash. As he also sang the national anthem standing alongside the umpires and match officials during that particular game.

Rohit Sharma created a historic win over Pakistan

The last time India met Pakistan, the Men in Blue won the game by 6 runs as the defend the lowest total of 119 runs, in India vs Pakistan history in the T20 World Cup competition. It was also overall the 6th lowest total defended in the T20 World Cup history.

Rohit Sharma has been seen watching India’s game often; he was also present at DY Patil Stadium, Mumbai, watching the Women’s World Cup final in 2025, where India defeated South Africa to win their maiden World Cup title. He was seen turning emotional after the Women’s team lifted the trophy.

India vs Pakistan has previously gained much attention over the years. Many Bollywood superstars, from Amitabh Bachchan to Shah Rukh Khan, have been present in the stadium to witness the big match. Amitabh Bachchan even sang the national anthem at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata, during the 2016 T20 World Cup match between the arch-rivals.

India showing sheer dominance

It has always been a mega event for the ICC, as they generate double the revenue from this game, from broadcasting the game, gate sales, ticket sales, sponsorships, and more. Previously, a few weeks back, there was uncertainty after Pakistan refused to take the field against India. But after weeks of drama, they changed their decision and decided to play the match.

India has met Pakistan eight times in the T20 World Cup competition, with their first meeting dating back to 2007, when India won the first game in the bowl-out. Till then, India has won 7 games while Pakistan has won one, which was back in 2021. The Men in Blue have not lost a single match in this competition since the 2024 T20 World Cup.
