Former selector Devang Gandhi has hinted at some possible changes in the Indian lineup which will face England in the upcoming five-match T20I series starting from March 12 onwards. The whole series will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium, in Motera Ahmedabad.

BCCI had shared a video of the Indian team preparing for the upcoming series with shots of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and others indulging in intense nets sessions. All-rounder Hardik Pandya also shared a video of himself going hard in nets.

There are still speculations about the Indian playing XI as the selectors want to experiment with the team as they have given maiden call-ups to Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, and Rahul Tewatia, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar makes his return to the team after injury.

Speaking about possible changes, Devang Gandhi told PTI, that the main change will be that KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma might be the preferred opening batsmen for the series and also going into the T20 World Cup.

“KL and Rohit are your opening pair in T20s going into the World T20. Shikhar will be the reserve opener and will have to wait for his turn. May be during the ODIs, he can be given a chance if the ODIs are also treated as an extension of T20 preparation,” Gandhi said.

He also further added that Suryakumar Yadav should bat at no.5 for India in the England T20Is and Rishabh Pant should come in at no. 4. This will give Pant lots of time to play his game of attacking batting.

“Surya has had tremendous success for Mumbai Indians in the IPL batting at that particular slot. If you are looking at him going into the World T20, give him as many games as possible in the lead up. He should also be kept in the ODI squad,” Gandhi said.

The five T20I matches between India and England will be played on March 12, 14, 16, 18, and 20 and will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium, in Motera Ahmedabad.
