Adam Gilchrist lauds Rohit Sharma's fabulous innings

While speaking on Cricbuzz, Adam Gilchrist praised Rohit Sharma for his fearless knock and exclaimed that it has silenced his critics in the format. He also lauded Rohit's shot selection against Australia.

"That's right. He is making those statements off the field. This is how we play. And on the field, it's inspiration stuff, it's great entertainment," Gilchrist said.

"And question marks around his T20 impact - all the IPL stats and all that -- that's just again a reinforcement of the value of his leadership and the value of a team that is inspired by him. It was a really good stroke selection, knowing where to go to put the bowler off," the legendary wicketkeeper added.

Adam Gilchrist was also famous for batting aggressively at the top. He won Australia numerous games with his aggressive style of play, with the 2007 ODI World Cup final among the most famous ones in this list.

Rohit Sharma smashed 7 fours and 8 sixes during his breathtaking innings. Now he holds the record for the most no. of sixes hit by an Indian in a T20 World Cup match.

He reached his fifty off just 19 balls. Despite losing Virat Kohli early, Rohit kept on firing from the other end and didn't bother to stop. He collected 29 runs off Mitchell Starc, which set the tone for the rest of the innings. Rohit hit four sixes in this over.

'He has stated what the process should be' - Adam Gilchrist on Rohit Sharma

Gilchrist also heaped praises on Rohit Sharma for leading his team by example. He claimed that Rohit is showing his team the way to be aggressive despite losing wickets at the other end.

"We often hear leaders say, it's not about the results, it's about the process. He has stated what the process should be -- that is be aggressive at all costs. If you lose your batting partner, no issues, focus on the process -- that is be aggressive. That sort of expertise as a leader and the guidance that he is giving his playing XI, they are going with him," the former Australian opener added.

Indian batters have tried to play an aggressive brand of cricket this T20 World Cup. They also tinkered with their batting combination for this tournament when they moved Rishabh Pant to the No. 3 spot and Virat Kohli to open alongside Rohit Sharma.

India will face defending champions England in the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2024 at Providence Stadium, Guyana. The first semi-final will be played between Afghanistan and South Africa in Trinidad.
