Former Indian opener and commentator Virender Sehwag has picked his go-to players for some of the most high-pressure situations in T20 cricket. Virender Sehwag picked the players on the basis of their current form in the ongoing IPL 2025 for the five different scenarios.
In a nail-biting chase of 15 runs in the Super Over, Sehwag believes the job should go to Nicholas Pooran and Virat Kohli, as one can hold one side and play big shots while the other one can go hard at the bowlers from the first ball and finish in style.
Virender Sehwag picks his superstars for every IPL 2025 crisis
Virender Sehwag said on Cricbuzz, “In a super over, we need a player who is not out and who can hit sixes and fours. I think Virat Kohli or Nicholas Pooran.” Notably, Pooran is currently the leading run scorer in the ongoing IPL 2025 with 349 runs in 6 games so far.

If a team finds itself crumbling at 23/4 while chasing a huge 200-run target in a must-win IPL game, the former explosive batter believes that the calm-headed KL Rahul and the explosive Nicholas Pooran will be the best pair to pull off a miraculous turnaround.
Sehwag hilariously said, “By the way, Sehwag is there, but for now, I have to pick, so it should be KL Rahul and Nicholas Pooran.”
Mohammed Siraj impresses Virender Sehwag with his IPL 2025 show
When it’s about defending a low total of 135 and picking up early wickets, Sehwag backs the fiery Gujarat Titans pacer Mohammed Siraj and the lethal Rajasthan Royals speedster Jofra Archer to shake up the top order in the powerplay in an IPL clash.
The commentator stated, “Two bowlers who are in form: one is Mohammed Siraj, and the other is Jofra Archer.” Notably, Siraj is currently the third leading wicket taker in the tournament with 10 wickets from 6 games so far in the ongoing IPL 2025.
Sehwag went to Rinku Singh and Shashank Singh when it comes to chasing 75 runs from the last 30 balls, as the two finishers have been making waves with their power hitting in the death overs in the last couple of IPL seasons for their respective KKR and PBKS teams.

Virender Sehwag picks Jasprit Bumrah and Yash Dayal to defend 30 runs in the last 2 overs
In the end, when it came to defending 30 runs in the last two overs, Sehwag didn’t think twice before trusting in Jasprit Bumrah’s deadly yorkers and the young Yash Dayal’s cool-headed death-bowling skills to pull off the miracle in the match.
Sehwag signed off by saying, “One for sure is Jasprit Bumrah; the other I think is Yash Dayal.” However, Bumrah has just made a return to action after recovering from a back injury that he sustained during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Australia.
