Team India skipper Rohit Sharma has issued a stern message to Bangladesh ahead of their upcoming two-match Test series on home soil.

Rohit Sharma said that every series is important for them and added that they have to give their best against the Najmul Hossain Shanto-led side.

The Indian team will return to action after a month-long break from international cricket. Team India will start their home season with the two-match Test series against Bangladesh.

The Men in Blue will also play a three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, led by Najmul Hossain Shanto.

The Bangladesh team is coming off a victory over Pakistan in the two-match Test series.

They recorded a 10-wicket victory during the series opener, followed by a victory in the second Test to complete a series win. Bangladesh hopes to continue their form against India in the upcoming series.

I Am Not Sure How It Works For Other Teams - Rohit Sharma

At the pre-match press conference, Rohit Sharma said that every series is important for Team India, stating that they can't relax just because they've won a trophy. Sharma added that they must make the most of their limited opportunities to play cricket.

"We know how it works. Talks will start happening around how we lost bilateral series if we don’t win. I am not sure how it works for other teams, I can only talk about India," Rohit said at the pre-match press conference.

"Every series is important for us. We won’t relax just because we have won a trophy, it doesn’t work like that. You have to make the best of everything. We have very limited time to play cricket," he added.

The India team is currently at the top of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 points table. India has won six out of nine Tests and has a points percentage of 68.52% in the ongoing WTC cycle. Bangladesh, on the other hand, is in fourth place with a points percentage of 45.83%.

Doesn't Matter Where We Play - Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma said that the Test series against Bangladesh is not a rehearsal for the Australia tour. Sharma stated that every game is important, regardless of the opposition. He added that the team wants to focus on the present and start the season on a high note without looking too far ahead.

"No dress rehearsal, Every game is important. Doesn’t matter where we play. We want to win, want to win this Test and the series. Not looking too far ahead. It’s nice to have everyone back and start the season on a high," Rohit commented.

The first Test match between India and Bangladesh will commence on Thursday, September 19, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. India will conclude the series with the second Test, which will be played at the Green Park in Kanpur from Friday, September 27.
