India captain Rohit Sharma has taken a brutal dig at Ben Duckett over his recent remarks about Yashasvi Jaiswal’s aggressive batting. The England opener raised several eyebrows by stating that England should be given credit for the opposition batters’ aggressive approach with the bat.

His comments came after Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a quickfire century in the third Test of the ongoing five-match series. Speaking after the third day’s play, Duckett, who himself played a quickfire knock of 153 runs in the same Test, praised Jaiswal for his fine batting and said: “He looks like a superstar in the making, unfortunately, he’s in some very good form at the moment.

“When you see players from the opposition playing like that, it almost feels like we should take some credit that they’re playing differently than how other people play Test cricket. We saw it a bit in the summer and it’s quite exciting to see other players and other teams are also playing that aggressive style of cricket,” he added.

Duckett faced criticism from several quarters for his comments as not only fans but several former cricketers slammed him too. Former England captain Michael Vaughan publicly criticized the England batter for his comments.

Rohit Sharma was also asked about Duckett’s comments during the pre-match press conference ahead of the fifth Test. In reply, the India captain quickly reminded Duckett of Rishabh Pant’s aggressive batting and suggested that the England opener might not have seen the wicketkeeper-batsman in action.

“There was a guy called Rishabh Pant in our team, probably Ben Duckett hasn’t seen him play,” Rohit Sharma said.

Rohit Sharma on Bazball:

Speaking further, Rohit Sharma also talked about England’s famous Bazball approach, named after their coach Brendon McCullum’s nickname, Baz. The India star said that he does not know the meaning of the term while also saying that England played better cricket in India on their last visit.

“Honestly don’t know what Bazball means. Whether it is strike, I don’t know what this term means. They played better cricket when they were here in the last series. Credit to two of the batters who scored a ton here,” said Rohit Sharma.
